Diego Costa Goes to Party in Atletico Madrid Shirt Amid Chelsea Exit Rumours

Christopher SimpsonJul 17, 2017

Diego Costa has fuelled speculation about his desire to return to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea this summer by wearing the club's shirt to a street party in Brazil.

Fan account Forza Atleti shared the video on Twitter after Costa filmed himself on Instagram:

ESPN FC's Liam Twomey also relayed the news:

According to Twomey, the Spain striker attended the street party on Sunday along with several others wearing Atleti shirts, before putting one on himself. He "has made it clear" he wants to rejoin Los Rojiblancos after being informed by manager Antonio Conte he is no longer required at Chelsea.

The Blues are back in pre-season training but he has been excused from his duties and so has remained in his home town of Lagarto, Brazil.

Twomey added that earlier in the video, Costa sent a message to Chelsea team-mate Cesc Fabregas in Spanish that said "give Conte a hug."

Per The Independent, the comment was a reply to Fabregas reacting to the video with a laughing emoji.

The Blues are said to want £30 million for Costa this summer and they "expect Atletico to meet their asking price shortly." Because of Los Rojiblancos' transfer ban, it will require Costa to spend six months on the sidelines until he can be registered in January, but he evidently holds his former club in great affection.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a productive spell at Stamford Bridge, per Squawka Football:

His most prolific campaign to date came in the Spanish capital, however, when he netted 36 goals in all competitions during his final season with Atleti.

Having him in place to play in the second half of the season will be incredibly useful for Atletico, so it's likely they will strike a deal this summer, and they'll hope he can pick up where he left off with them.
