Ivan Perisic Reportedly Wants Manchester United Transfer from Inter Milan

Ivan Perisic's agent reportedly held talks with Inter Milan on Wednesday regarding a potential transfer to Manchester United, which the Croatian hopes to complete.

According to Sky Sports News HQ, the Red Devils hope to conclude a deal for Perisic before Inter head to China on a pre-season tour next week, but the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement, with the Serie A side holding firm on their £48 million valuation.

United may be able to secure him for a slightly lower price, around £45 million, but thus far their best offer has been £39 million.

Per Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol, Inter director Piero Ausilio has poured cold water on a move, though:

The reported difference isn't particularly significant given the wealth available to the Red Devils, but Inter's asking price may be a sticking point in terms of value for money.

Perisic enjoyed a good season with the Nerazzurri, finishing the campaign with 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, showing his productivity from the wing.

While he typically operates from the left, he's good with both feet, per Squawka Football:

Add to that he's a fine dribbler, a good crosser—which will be useful with Romelu Lukaku up front—and he's not afraid to put in a shift defensively.

However, there are question marks over his ability to produce the goods week in, week out, having struggled for consistency so far in his career—a facet of his game unlikely to improve given he's 28 years old.

Football writer Liam Canning is an admirer of Perisic, but even he questioned his price tag, though Serie A expert David Amoyal believes he would be worthwhile in today's market:

Inter have held their resolve with the Croatia international, so it seems United will need to go closer to their valuation if they're to come to an agreement.

The two clubs seemingly aren't that far apart, relatively speaking, and if the player himself is also keen to make the switch, they should be able to agree terms.

Ausilio's comments throw a spanner in the works, however, so it's hardly guaranteed.
