The Los Angeles Lakers announced Wednesday they have waived guard David Nwaba.
Nwaba, 24, made 20 appearances (two starts) for the Lakers in the 2016-17 season, averaging 6.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per contest.
He signed two 10-day contracts with the team last season before being signed for the remainder of the year March 21.

His chances of making the team this offseason were always slim, especially after the Lakers drafted guards Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart and reportedly signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one-year, $18 million deal Tuesday night, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com.
The Lakers also reportedly remain interested in signing Rajon Rondo, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. With Jordan Clarkson already on the roster, Nwaba would have been battling with Hart to be third on the shooting guard depth chart.
B/R's Eric Pincus broke down more of the context for Nwaba's release:
All of the above factors ultimately made Nwaba expendable in L.A.
