Ryu went for X-rays on his injured left foot at the end of June, and the scan came back clean.
However, soreness continued to bother the 30-year-old, and he saw doctors for additional exams Monday, per Plunkett.
In 13 starts this season, Ryu is 3-6 with a 4.21 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 3.14 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Brandon McCarthy, who has been on the disabled list with a knee injury, is expected to return to the starting rotation Saturday and start against the Kansas City Royals, Plunkett reported Tuesday.
With McCarthy on the mend and the All-Star break looming at the start of next week, Ryu should have plenty of time to work his way back to 100 percent.
