George Hill Reportedly Drawing Free-Agent Interest from Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets—who already made noise Sunday when Shams Charania of The Vertical reported they agreed to a deal with Paul Millsap—are reportedly interested in point guard George Hill.
Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer reported the Nuggets will pursue Hill "if they can dump salary (like Kenneth Faried or Darrell Arthur)."
Hill played one season with the Utah Jazz after he spent five seasons with the Indiana Pacers and his first three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.
He scored a career-high 16.9 points per game in 2016-17 and helped lead the Jazz to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, where they lost to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors. Hill is a dangerous three-point shooter who hit 40.3 percent of his triples this past season and a career-best 40.8 percent in 2015-16 with Indiana.
It is not difficult to envision a situation where Hill sees plenty of open threes in the immediate future if he ultimately signed with Denver.
The combination of Nikola Jokic and Millsap in the frontcourt will create situations where opposing defenses have to commit plenty of attention near the paint, opening up the likes of Hill, Jamal Murray or Gary Harris from beyond the arc.
The Nuggets missed the playoffs in each of the last four seasons but are apparently making a strong effort to surround Jokic with talent and change the direction of the franchise this offseason with the latest Millsap and Hill news.
