Manchester United Transfer News: Marquinhos Blow, Latest Ivan Perisic Rumours

Reported Manchester United target Marquinhos has signed a new five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, putting an end to speculation about his future at the Parc des Princes.

As noted by French football journalist Jonathan Johnson, the Ligue 1 side confirmed fresh terms had been agreed on Saturday, with the Brazilian set to stick around in the capital until 2022:

United have long been tipped as possible suitors for Marquinhos, with Globo Esporte (h/t Metro) recently stating the Red Devils had bid a whopping €70 million (£60 million) in an attempt to secure the player.

Per Scouted Football, Marquinhos has regularly been tipped to leave PSG:

Marquinhos has established himself as one of the most exciting young defenders in world football in recent seasons and cemented his status in the PSG team alongside Thiago Silva last season after the sale of David Luiz.

The 23-year-old is adept in his defensive duties, able to spot danger, use his dynamism to win back possession and distribute with intelligence. Alongside his senior compatriot Silva, he's come on a lot since his move from Roma.

United have already strengthened their defensive options with the signing of Victor Lindelof this summer. According to James Ducker of the Daily Telegraph, they were also eyeing Michael Keane, although he's set to join Everton:

Marquinhos would have been a fine addition for the Red Devils, although it's easy to see why he's opted to stay at the Parc des Princes.

PSG have a big season coming up having lost their Ligue 1 title and suffered a dramatic elimination in the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barcelona. Keeping hold of Marquinhos and ensuring he remains a defensive linchpin for years to come will be crucial for their development.

Inter Milan Waiting on New Ivan Perisic Offer

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan are waiting on Manchester United to increase their bid for winger Ivan Perisic from €40 million (£35 million) to €50 million (£43 million).

It's also suggested United are considering including Italy international Matteo Darmian in any offer to get a deal over the line.

"United could use Darmian as leverage to sweeten the deal, but Inter are waiting on Man United's monetary offer before enquiring on the Italian right back," it's added. "It is now in the Red Devil's hands."

Perisic is one of the most exciting wingers in Serie A and has become a popular figure among the Inter Milan fans. Here is a look at why:

It's easy to see why United manager Jose Mourinho would be a fan of Perisic. The Croatian may not be the flashiest wide player around, but he's powerful on the ball, relentless in the way he commits opponents and is always looking to get into dangerous areas.

Should United raise their bid to Inter's valuation, some eyebrows will be raised about the price. It's easy to see Perisic being a big hit at Old Trafford under Mourinho's stewardship, though.
