NBA Rumors: Blake Griffin, Paul Millsap Reportedly Drawing Interest from Nuggets

After finishing a game out of eighth place in the Western Conference last year, the Denver Nuggets are reportedly looking to make a major splash in free agency.

According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein and Chris Haynes, the Nuggets are looking to sign Blake Griffin or Paul Millsap. Stein and Haynes also reported Denver negotiated a possible trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers up until the NBA draft that would've sent Kevin Love to the Mile High City.

Stein and Haynes also reported the Nuggets are making Kenneth Faried available in trade discussions.

Faried is signed for two more years and will make $26.7 million. While a solid role player, the 27-year-old has struggled to score away from the basket, which is a big problem as teams increasingly expect power forwards to help space the floor.

Millsap, a career 32.8 percent shooter from beyond the arc, would provide a lot more offensive versatility to Denver's frontcourt.

Few regard Griffin as a long-range threat, but he averaged a career-high 0.6 made three-pointers on 1.9 attempts in 2016-17. He's also long been a target of the Nuggets, whom the Los Angeles Times' Dan Woike reported discussed a Griffin trade with the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2016.

As things stand, Faried and Juan Hernangomez are likely to be Denver's two best power forwards. Millsap and Griffin would represent significant upgrades at the position. Signing one of the two would also represent a show of ambition from the front office as the Nuggets look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
