Kylian Mbappe Reportedly Offered 900% Pay Rise Amid Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Matt JonesJun 25, 2017

Monaco have reportedly offered Kylian Mbappe a new contract worth €162,000 a week, a salary that would represent a potential 900 per cent pay rise.

The teenager is the hottest property in world football at the moment and has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid since the end of his breakthrough term, per Chris Bascombe of the Daily Telegraph.

However, according to Journal du Dimanche (h/t beIN Sports' Matt Spiro), Monaco are ready to do all they can to keep him at the club:

As we can see, that would represent a massive increase on his current weekly salary of €18,000:

With some of the biggest names in European football eyeing up the Monaco man, it's clear the Ligue 1 champions face a fight to keep him in the principality beyond the summer.

After all, despite his tender years, the level of performance showcased by the youngster late last term would be enough for him to force his way into the XI of any of those massive outfits aforementioned.

Per Squawka Football, he was making contributions in the final third at such a consistent rate:

Mbappe starred as Monaco raced away with the Ligue 1 title and was undaunted by playing on the biggest stage in the UEFA Champions League, netting against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as they reached the knockout stages.

In key games for Leonardo Jardim's side, he played without any inkling of fear, running at defenders, clattering into challenges and, when chances did come his way, showing wonderful composure for one so young.

Given he's just 18, it's no surprise there is so much interest in the forward, and it's easy to see why Monaco would be well within their rights to demand in excess of £100 million before cashing in, as noted by Bascombe. But the French champions will not want to part ways with their tyro yet.

Sports journalist Liam Canning believes the striker should be looking to stick around at Monaco for a while:

Aside from a boosted salary, the merits to staying at Monaco are obvious for Mbappe. Most pertinently, perhaps, he's still a young man; having consistency and familiarity will aid his development.

Additionally, he's a player who will be considered a key man at the Stade Louis II next season. Getting regular games at the point of one of Europe's most thrilling attacking sides would only serve to benefit the youngster, as he seeks to refine the array of attributes he has. That'll be crucial ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

Provided he continues on an upward curve, the interest from the likes of Arsenal will remain in a year's time, too.
