WWE Great Balls of Fire 2017: Titles Most Likely to Change Hands at Raw Event
WWE Great Balls of Fire may be one of the least popular names for a pay-per-view in history, but the upcoming show has a serious amount of potential.
The main event between Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar is rightly grabbing most of the headlines given the spectacular way their feud began earlier this month, but there's lots more for fans to be excited about, too.
Braun Strowman's return to in-ring action is noteworthy, as is tracking the development of Alexa Bliss as the Raw women's division's flagship star.
Most, if not all, of the titles Raw owns should be defended, and there's certainly the possibility for some of those belts to change hands.
Here's a look at the most likely championships to have new owners by the end of Great Balls of Fire: including one that may surprise a few people.
WWE Raw Tag Team Championships
1 of 3It's difficult to project what the future of Raw's tag titles has in store.
Sheamus and Cesaro had been long overdue a run with the titles and were worthy winners at Extreme Rules. However, it's hard to imagine The Hardy Boyz not getting their hands on the straps again at some point in the near future.
So if, as expected, the two teams are pitted against one another at Great Balls of Fire, there could be a realistic chance that Matt and Jeff take back the Raw Tag Team Championships.
This is likely to be the blow-off bout for the feud after a good few weeks of taking each other on. There's every chance The Hardy Boyz could win the decisive bout and get their titles back.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
2 of 3After several months of seemingly holding WWE's cruiserweight division up by himself, could Neville really drop it in the coming weeks at Great Balls of Fire?
It's not impossible.
He has seen off challenges from the likes of former champion Rich Swann and Austin Aries in recent months, but the prospect of Akira Tozawa reigning supreme among the cruiserweights is an interesting one.
They will surely meet at Great Balls of Fire, and despite Neville looking almost untouchable of late, Tozawa is a genuine and credible threat to Neville's reign as the King of the Cruiserweights.
Whether it's at Great Balls of Fire or not, Tozawa will win the belt at some point. There's every possibility it could be sooner, rather than later.
WWE Universal Championship
3 of 3If their first real interaction is anything to go by, WWE fans are in for a treat when Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar collide at Great Balls of Fire.
That huge brawl, which had to be split by almost all of Raw's roster, set the tone for their bout at Great Balls of Fire. And when they do meet on pay-per-view, it's beginning to look more and more likely that Joe could emerge victorious.
It was reported only last week by Randall Ortman at Cageside Seats that WWE officials are apparently happy with the start of the feud.
They're also open to extending it beyond Great Balls of Fire if "ratings and other factors indicate there's fan interest in a longer program."
So with that in mind, why couldn't Joe win at Great Balls of Fire? Sure, he could lose the belt at SummerSlam or a later date to Lesnar, but as the likelihood of the feud continuing remains possible, so does the potential for Joe to do the unthinkable and beat Lesnar.
