Jeff Samardzija Hits 446-Foot Home Run vs. Colorado Rockies
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija made history at the plate at Coors Field on Friday, hitting the longest homer by a pitcher in the Statcast era, which started in 2015.
The 446-foot bomb had an exit velocity of 108.5 mph, according to Statcast (h/t MLB.com). It was Samardzija's third career home run and first as a member of the Giants.
Samardzija's two-run blast over the right center field fence came in the fifth inning with two outs on a 2-0 count off Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela. The 32-year-old Samardzija threw in a mini bat flip for good measure after making it 4-1.

It wasn't enough, however, as the Rockies prevailed 10-8 to move to 44-26 on the year. Despite the home run, Samardzija has had a rough year for the equally disappointing 26-43 Giants, going 2-9 with a 4.81 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 91.2 innings.
