4-Star WR Prospect Braden Lenzy Flips Commitment from Notre Dame to Oregon
Braden Lenzy announced Wednesday he has flipped his commitment from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the Oregon Ducks:
The Tigard, Oregon, native is the No. 5 athlete and No. 97 player overall in the 2018 recruiting class, per Scout. He had previously committed to Notre Dame in February.
Since he also wants to run track, switching to Oregon makes sense for Lenzy. The Ducks finished ninth nationally at the men's outdoor national championships in Eugene, Oregon, earlier in the month and won the indoor title three years in a row between 2014 and 2016.
With a 4.47-second 40-yard dash, per Hudl, Lenzy's future likely lies at wide receiver. He has impressive speed and the agility necessary to elude would-be tacklers.
Lenzy isn't the same kind of standout athlete De'Anthony Thomas was during his Oregon days, but he could fill a similar kind of role where he's used in a variety of ways and lines up in different positions on offense.
Oregon head coach Willie Taggart helped turn the South Florida Bulls into an offensive force during his time at the school. In his first season, the Bulls ranked 118th in S&P+ offensive rating, per Football Outsiders. By the time he left, they had climbed to seventh.
Taggart should be able to get the most out of Lenzy in Eugene.
