Sidney Crosby Denies Taking Jab at P.K. Subban's Breath in Game 3 vs. Predators
Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby refuted P.K. Subban's claim that he made light of the Nashville Predators defenseman's breath during Game 3 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.
"Yeah, he made that up. I didn't say that," Crosby said Sunday, per ESPN.com.
Crosby also said Subban's comments may have been a tactic to gain a mental edge ahead of Game 4 Monday night.
Following Nashville's 5-1 victory in Game 3, Subban told NBC Sports' Pierre McGuire that Crosby had made fun of his breath during the game, via NHL on NBC:
Subban's teammates had some fun with the situation, according to the Associated Press' Stephen Whyno:
Given his shout-out to the company during his interview with McGuire, Subban may be able to swing a Listerine endorsement out of this situation.
Trash talk is a part of sports, but attacking an opposing player's breath is a novel—albeit potentially not all that effective—way to get into his head.
