James Dolan Admits to Deadspin He Called Knicks Fan an 'Assh--e' Outside MSG

New York Knicks owner James Dolan admitted Wednesday to calling a Knicks fan an "assh--e" outside Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

According to Dave McKenna of Deadspin, Knicks fan Mike Hamersky said he yelled, "Sell the team, Jim!" when he saw Dolan outside the arena.

When asked by McKenna if he responded by calling Hamersky an "assh--e," Dolan said, "I did call him an assh--e because he is an assh--e."

According to McKenna, Hamersky said Dolan got in his face and yelled at him before instructing security to not allow Hamersky into the arena. Dolan confirmed an exchange took place and that he instructed security to prevent Hamersky entering.

"He had an open bottle of beer and smelled of alcohol, and I told him he wasn't going in," Dolan said.

Hamersky—a lawyer—said he had just gotten done teaching a Fordham law class and wouldn't have had time to be intoxicated.

After moving away from security, Hamersky and his friend managed to enter Madison Square Garden, where they saw the Knicks defeat the Chicago Bulls 100-91.

Dolan previously made headlines in February when he had former Knicks player Charles Oakley escorted from MSG.

The owner initially banned Oakley from the arena but later lifted it and invited him to return, but Oakley has yet to take him up on the offer.
