Dear Mr. Irish,

I write this letter to you because I am concerned. I am concerned that you are about to set yourselves up to be embarrassed. Embarrassed by Mark the media and by most of the college football world.

This week, I read that Charlie Weis is upset because his Notre Dame team isn't ranked. He's upset that his team doesn't get the respect it deserves. He wants everybody to believe that his team is something it's, all Golden Domers think that their team is something it's not.

Let me make this clear: Nobody respects you—not USC, not the midwest, not Ohio State, not Michigan, not even ESPN. And before you go getting mad at this why don't you take a seat, so we can just talk about a few things.

Disclaimer...let me get this out. I am an avid Buckeye my loyalties lie with the Buck Nation. I am an Ohio boy, so I do follow the teams in the mid-west and I've kept my eye on Notre Dame since the 95 game, where we handed you your lucky charms.

And second, I am a black male so I was pissed when you fired Tyrone Willingham. I understand why you did it, but the was you did it was classless. I mean really you only gave the gu...we are getting off topic. I just wanted to let you know where I was coming from.

You guys are about as relevant as Michigan State.

Let's be honest you went 3-9 two years ago and you went 7-6 last year. Thats not anything to brag about.

This year seems to be going well against teams that haven't meant a damn in the past few years. Nevada (who cares), Michigan State (perennial underachievers), Washington (how many wins did they have last year again?), and Purdue (Drew Brees isn't walking through that door anytime soon).

Now, admittedly, those were fun games to watch. I especially enjoyed watching Michael Man among Boys Floyd go off in the first two games this year. But when I think about played the bottom dwellers in their conferences and they gave you all you can handle.

There is no reason for me to respect you at all, but you not only want respect; you think you should be talked about as one of the power programs. Lou Holtz and Beano Cook thought Notre Dame could compete for a national championship. Mike Golic thinks a BCS bowl is on the way. You probably think you have a pick 'em game against USC... Really! Are you serious right now!

Look there are six SEC teams that would beat you (UF, UT, Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU), seven from Big 12 (Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Mizzou, Okie State), four from Pac 10 (USC, Cal, Oregon, Stanford), four from ACC (Miami, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Boston College), five from Big 10 (The OSU, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa), and two from Big East (Cincy, South Florida) and a couple non bcs teams (Boise, BYU, TCU).

Add them all up and you can plainly see why you guys aren't ranked. You haven't done anything to be ranked.

I am not saying this to be rude. I used to feel that way, but things changed. I've watched every game this year because I wanted to see you fall. But in doing so I noticed that you guys have gotten a little bit of talent.

Your quarterback is the best QB in the nation; you also had the best duo of wide receivers before. Floyd went down (Too bad too...he was the best player I saw this year).

Golden Tate is an absolute Dogg on the field.

These are things you can build on, but to say that you should even be considered one of the top twenty teams in the country is somewhat laughable because you haven't really done anything. Take any team in the top 25 and be realistic...What have you done better than them? You probably have another 3-4 losses coming up.

But don't let that get you down. The program is starting to turn around. I see it.

You go 7-4 this year and go to a bowl game against somebody who actually plays defense and beat them ending the year at 8-4. Clausen is great...Heisman Trophy favorite next year.

You are finally starting to look up. I believe in you; more importantly, I'm starting to respect you.
