Line 'em up/ Bench their butts

Jabber HeadSenior Analyst IOctober 10, 2009

This column’s intent is to give the readers an idea of few good players in favorable match ups and a few good players in bad match ups. If you have a great player, then it may not advisable to bench him for someone in the Line ‘em Up section. If I suggest that you bench one of your studs, you can only do this if you have a good option behind him. If you don’t have a good player behind him, don’t bench ‘em. Remember every league is different and I am advising from a standard league.

Line ‘em Up

QB Ben Roethlisberger of Pittsburgh . “Big” Ben has become an every week starter this season. He is going against a week Lions team. Even though I look for the Steelers to run the ball well this week, I think there is room for big stats for Roethlisberger.

QB Tony Romo of Dallas . Tony has been very hot and cold this season. He has looked good against bad teams and terrible against good teams. Lucky for Romo owners and Cowboys fans alike, the Boys are going against the dreadful Chiefs. Look for Romo to bounce back with a great game.

RB Rashard Mendenhall of Pittsburgh . Last week, Mendenhall finally had the game I have been expecting out of him. With “Fast” Willie likely out again, Mendenhall will be given the rock against the Lions. I expect a big day out of Mendenhall this week.

RB DeAngelo Williams of Carolina . This is the week that Williams gets on track to being a fantasy stud again. The Panthers face the 22nd ranked run defense of the Redskins. Delhomme is still struggling and the Panthers should focus on their offense on their running game.

WR Sidney Rice of the Minnesota . Rice came to fantasy life last week with Brett have a really good game. I look for Rice to continue to make himself known to the fantasy world this week against the Rams. .

WR Pierre Garcon of Indianapolis . Garcon has been a decent WR3 or flex as a starting WR for the Colts. This week the Colts face the 31st Pass Defense of the Titans.

Bench their Butts

QB Carson Palmer of Cincinnati . What a difference a week makes. Last week I was suggesting you to start Palmer and this week to sit him. He is going against the Ravens and Palmer has been too injury prone to think he will handle the Raven’s blitz.

QB Matt Ryan of Atlanta . Ryan will face a top 10 pass defense in San Francisco. Since the running game has been lackluster this season, Ryan will face a well coached defense which will be looking for the pass. This is not good news for Ryan.

RBs Ronnie Brown of Miami . The Jets Defense has made me a believer. They look to stop the run against Miami and make Chad Henne beat them.

RB Steve Slaton of Houston . Slaton has had a rough Sophomore year so far with one decent game. He goes against a surprisingly tough run defense in Arizona.

WR Antonio Bryant of Tampa Bay. The Bucs are playing against a tough Eagles Defense with Josh Johnson as their Quarterback.

WR Calvin Johnson of Detroit . Yes he is their main weapon on offense but they are playing the Steelers and Stafford has been injured. It does not look good for Detroit and any fantasy player from the Lions
