LOS ANGELES, CA - OCTOBER 07: Matt Holliday #15 of the St. Louis Cardinals reacts after striking out in the seventh inning of Game One of the NLDS during the 2009 MLB Playoffs against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on October 7, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. October 8 2009 will go down as a total bust for the state of Missouri's sports teams. First Matt Holliday has a Bill Buckner moment and the Cardinals and Franklin go on to a 3-2 loss. The game was won but Holliday who is playing for a contract dropped a ball, I am not so sure I even want the Cardinals to resign him now. U could hear the millions of dollars go bye bye as he choked. Although Matt is the main reason we lost, Franklin the closer walking everybody else was bad also, unlike Holliday we have already resigned Franklin to a contract. While the Cardinals are still alive though down 2-0, they must really dig down deep to pull out this series which should be tied 1-1.

The Missouri Tigers in a national ESPN game against Nebraska had a 12-0 lead in the fourth quarter, only to have their dinged up QB Blaine Gabbert start throwing interceptions and end up losing 27-12. While it was rainy, the weather affected both teams equally. The wet turf the hurt ankle made Gabbert look so slow and his throws were wobbly all night it is amazing that no less than 3 more passes were not picked off. While I don't know who the Tigers backup QB is he must be awful if Gabbert was the best option. While Nebraska won this game i would not be surprised if Pinkel called Matt Holliday to ask for advice and was told to stick with the visibly injured Gabbert.

The St. Louis Blues had their home opener tonite and lost to the Thrashers 4-2 in a very winnable game. Atlanta got their first shot off seven minutes into the game and it went in. The Blues are undefeated in Finland and no wins in America makes u wish we were in the Finnish league. All in all a day/night of promise for a coming out party turned into ashes for the state of Missouri. It is one thing to lose but to choke/give 3 games in 3 sports is just pathetic.
