Troy got week six of the college football season started with a win over Middle Tennessee State. A special shout-out in the Trojans 31-7 win over the Blue Raiders to Maurice Greer.

Greer is a cancer survivor and is restarting his football career after beating testicular cancer. He had his best game of the season rushing for 80 yards on seven carries.

This is a real feel good story and good luck to Greer for the rest of the season. Now, on to the rest of week six games in college football.

Week six has some very big games and we will learn how good a lot of teams really are. This is a look of the best games in week six.

Thursday Night

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Missouri Tigers

Nebraska comes into this contest a last second touchdown from being undefeated. A late Virginia Tech touchdown in the final seconds is the only blemish on their record.

Missouri enters this game without a loss so far this season. The Tigers have to be one of the biggest surprises this season.

This is the Big-12 opener for both schools.

Who needs the win more: Both

The Cornhuskers want to be considered a national power once more. This is their chance to get a big win on prime time television to show the rest of the nation they are back. A loss could mean Nebraska has to wait one more year.

The Tigers were supposed to be rebuilding this season. The core of last season’s team all moved on to the NFL or graduation. Missouri can jump into the talk of upper echelon teams that do not rebuild but reload.

Saturday and Saturday Night

Boston College Eagles vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

Boston College is doing better than anyone thought after all the offseason turmoil. The Eagles lost their only game on the road at Clemson. This is just their second road trip and they need to show they can play well away from home.

The Hokies are an opening week loss to Alabama from being undefeated. Virginia Tech is the only team to beat the Hurricanes from Miami this season.

Who needs the win more: Both

Boston College is right in the mix for the ACC Atlantic division title. A win over Virginia Tech would be a big feather in the cap for this program after all that has gone on. This team has to watch out for a letdown after an emotional win last week.

The Hokies are not only in the mix for an ACC Coastal title they are in the running for a spot in the national championship game. A win here only helps their case and a loss would mean a chance at aBCS game but no more than that.

Auburn Tigers vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

The Tigers are one of three teams in the SEC West that are undefeated. Auburn has gone from a team everyone thought was rebuilding to a dark horse for the West.

Arkansas has the offense to be a great team. The Razorbacks also have the defense to be a lousy team. This team is still looking for its first SEC win.

Who needs the win more: Both

The Tigers are proving that hiring Gene Chizik was a good idea. A win would make Auburn bowl eligible, which is something most people did not see this year. Also with the win, the Tigers would be 3-0 in SEC play before facing the power houses of the West.

Arkansas is 0-2 in SEC play and could use a conference win. The Razorbacks would love to ruin Auburns' perfect record as well. A loss here could make getting bowl eligible hard for coach Bobby Petrino in year two at Arkansas.

West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Syracuse Orange

The Mountaineers were expected to take a step back last year after Rich Rodriguez left for Michigan. Then again this year after the graduation of Pat White, but all West Virginia has done is kept winning.

Syracuse had a bad game last week against South Florida but has been a better team. The Orange can show vast improvement against one of the best teams in the conference.

Who needs the win more: West Virginia

One could argue that Syracuse needs this win more. The Orange still could make a bowl game but more than likely have some more rebuilding to do.

The Mountaineers need this win more. A loss here and everyone will be looking for cranks in this program. The end has been prophesized several times and a loss is just what everyone is expecting.

West Virginia wants to prove that they just reload and have good coaching. With Noel Divine and Bill Stewart, the Mountaineers are proving everyone wrong.

Michigan State Spartans vs. Illinois Fighting Illini

Michigan State picked up a big win last week over in-state rival Michigan. The game saw the Spartans have more turnovers and blow a lead in the fourth quarter. The win breathed new life into this team.

Illinois looks like a program in trouble after four games this season. The Illini have only one game this season for a team that brought back a lot of talent. So far, this team has been a major disappointment.

Who needs the win more: Both

The win last week kept any hope of a Big Ten championship alive and a bowl bid as well for the Spartans. Michigan State will have to avoid a letdown this week on the road. A win here keeps any conference goals alive.

Illinois has to get a win this week or face going 0-3 in Big Ten play. Head coach Ron Zook’s job has to be on the line. Zook's decision to sit senior quarterback Juice Williams will be make or break this season. A loss will cost Zook his job.

Georgia Bulldogs vs. Tennessee Volunteers

Georgia suffered a controversial loss to LSU last week. A last minute touchdown was flagged for excessive-celebration on A.J. Green. The SEC has admitted the call was bad, but too little too late for the Bulldogs.

Tennessee lost last week to Auburn as the offense for the Volunteers has done little to help out a great defense. Lane Kiffin has yet to taste victory after all his talk in theoffseason.

Who needs the win more: Both

The loss last week ended any slim hope the Bulldogs had of making a title run. Georgia can keep pace for an SEC East title with a win. A loss more than likely would end hopes of a division title as well.

Lane Kiffin and the Volunteers could use a win in conference play. The Tennessee faithful will surely start to grumble if Kiffin's tenure starts with a 0-3 start in SEC play. A loss here might mean no SEC win until November.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Texas A&M Aggies

The Cowboys still have hopes of a Big-12 South title and a shot at a national championship. Oklahoma State’s goals got harder this week afterDez Bryant was ruled ineligible by the NCAA.

Texas A&M has been a surprise this season as well. A win over the Cowboys would be a good start in conference play. The Aggies looked over-matched against Arkansas last week and need a big win this season.

Who needs the win more: Both

Both of these teams are starting conference play this week and they both enter this game with questions. The Cowboys have to answer how they will respond to the loss of Bryant.

The Aggies do not have a signature win over a big named opponent this season. Texas A&M could use a win to show they are for real.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Mississippi (Ole Miss) Rebels

The Tide has been steam rolling and look to return to the SEC title game. Alabama will take a major step to a West title with a win this week.

Ole Miss has started slow after big expectations this season. The Rebels failed their first test of the season against South Carolina.

Who needs the win more: Both

Alabama wants to return to the SEC title game and finish what they started last season. A loss here would not make that goal impossible, but it would make it harder. The Tide still has to play a surprising Auburn team and LSU.

Ole Miss needs to win this game to show that the preseason buzz around this team was not misplaced. Jevan Snead will be the key. The Rebels' quarterback has not looked like a Heisman contender but a big day and a win over the Tide changes all of that.

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

The Badgers might not be the most dominate team in the country, but they are undefeated. Wisconsin has taken care of business this whole season.

Ohio State has not looked shaky since they lost to USC. This team still has all of its goals in sight for this season.

Who needs the win more: Both

A loss by Wisconsin would mean putting their hopes of a Big Ten title in another team's hands. A win would leave the Badgers in a good spot in conference play. A win makes Wisconsin for real, and a loss would leave them with a lot of catching up to do.

The Buckeyes cannot afford another loss if they hope to play for a national title. While losing a game in Big Ten play does not end a chance at a Big Ten title, it would leave Ohio State a lot of work to do.

Both teams need this one bad.

Oregon Ducks vs. UCLA Bruins

The Ducks have not lost since opening week and are undefeated in conference play. Oregon still has a showdown looming with USC to come.

UCLA lost its conference opener against Stanford last week. The loss was the Bruins' first of the season.

Who needs the win more: Oregon

UCLA could use a win here as well, but no one thought they would be in the running for a Pac-10 title this season. The Bruins look to be a year away, but a win would help them out.

The Ducks have a chance to keep winning after the Boise State incident. Head coach Chip Kelly brought the idea of bringing LeGarrette Blount back this season. As long as the Oregon keeps winning this will be a non issue.

The Ducks still have games against Washington, USC, and Stanford to go. They have to keep winning to keep pace with the Cardinal as well.

Connecticut Huskies vs. Pittsburgh Panthers

The Huskies have built a nice program and now look to challenge for the top of the Big East. Connecticut has all their conference goals in play at this point in the season.

Pittsburgh still has a chance to play for the Big East title as well. The Panthers want to keep pace with South Florida and Cincinnati.

Who needs the win more: Both

Whoever losses this game will have a lot of work to do to get back in to the Big East race. Right now, everyone in the conference is chasing the Bulls and the Bearcats.

The Huskies and the Panthers are good enough to challenge for the conference title. A win here is huge for either team.

Sanford Cardinal vs. Oregon State Beavers

The Cardinal has been another surprise team. Stanford has started off 3-0 in the Pac-10 and is in the driver’s seat so far.

Oregon State has a loss in the conference already and needs a win so they are not out of the conference race. The Beavers would have a lot of work to do with a second conference loss.

Who needs the win more: Stanford

If the Cardinal is going to shock the world and win the Pac-10 title they have to win this game. Stanford still has to play USC and Oregon so they cannot afford any losses.

While a loss would not end their Pac-10 title hopes, it will make it harder. The favorites still have to be the Trojans and Oregon a close second.

Florida Gators vs. LSU Tigers

In a week that has three top 25 matchups, this is the biggest game featuring top five teams. The Gators look beatable for the first time since last season when Ole Miss beat them at home.

Florida’s unquestioned leader Tim Tebow could miss this game after a concussion against Kentucky. If Tebow cannot go, the pressure will fall on John Brantley at quarterback.

The Tigers have not looked great on offense but have done enough to win all their ball games. LSU’s defense has kept them in ball games this season.

Who needs the win more: Both

There is no question both these teams need to win this game. The Tigers still have games against Auburn, Alabama, and Ole Miss. A loss will leave LSU with a lot of work to do to get back in the SEC race.

A win by Florida would set the Gators up in a nice position. Florida would only have to get by South Carolina and Georgia to play in a second SEC championship game. A loss would not be the end of their national title hopes, but they would have no room for error.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Florida State Seminoles

The Yellow Jackets have bounced back after a loss to Miami. Georgia Tech has to keep winning if they want to win the ACC Coastal division.

Florida State is reeling this week. A win would quiet the faithful who are calling for Bobby Bowden’s head. The Seminoles have not played well at home, and this game would give them a chance to change that.

Who needs the win more: Both

A loss by Georgia Tech here could end their ACC title hopes. The Yellow Jackets still have a showdown against Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech has to keep winning to keep pace with theHokies and the Hurricanes.

Florida State is off to its worst start since Bowden’s first season in Tallahassee. This week everyone has come out against this once untouchable coach.

The Seminoles would start 0-3 in ACC play. This team could use a win to get the heat off their coach.

Michigan Wolverines vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

Michigan ran out of late game magic last week in an overtime loss to Michigan State. The Wolverines' loss was the first of the season.

Iowa has already passed one big test on the road against Penn State. The Hawkeyes have national and conference title hopes.

Who needs the win more: Iowa

Michigan could no doubt use this win. Still, the Wolverines are ahead of schedule under coach Rich Rod. A loss would not be the end of the world, and this team hasproven it is much improved over last year’s team.

Iowa plays down to its competition each week. The Hawkeyes are living on the edge with that mentality.

If you were not living in Iowa did you see the Hawkeyes being undefeated at this point of the season? The Hawkeyes control their own destiny for now, but a loss would change that. An Iowa win would make them theBCS favorite.

Here are some games to keep an eye on this weekend.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs. Nevada Wolfpack

If you love football, this game is the only thing going on Friday night. Start your weekend with this WAC contest.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Virginia Cavaliers

Hoosiers laid an egg against Ohio State after giving Michigan all they wanted. Virginia is playing to save Al Groh’s job.

Houston Cougars vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Cougars look to bounce back after their BCS dreams were busted last week against UTEP. The Bulldogs look to flex some SEC muscle against a C-USA team.

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Army Black Knights

A win here is big for both these teams if they want to go bowling at the end of the season.

Arizona Wildcats vs. Washington Huskies

Huskies look to find their winning ways since beating USC. Arizona wants to stay undefeated in the Pac-10.

Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack

The Blue Devils tried to upset Virginia Tech last week. Duke will have a shot at another one this week. The Wolfpack look to stay in theACC race after a loss against Wake Forest last week.

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles vs. Louisville Cardinals

The Eagles look to get C-USA a win over a Big East team and rebound after last week’s loss to UAB. The Cardinals need to start winning if Steve Kragthorpe wants to keep his job.

Iowa State Cyclones vs. Kansas Jayhawks

Iowa State looks to keep winning to become bowl eligible this season. The Jayhawks look to stay unbeaten and get conference play off to a good start.

Kentucky Wildcats vs. South Carolina Gamecocks

Kentucky is looking for its first SEC win of the season. The Gamecocks are trying to keep pace in the SEC East. Both these team would love a win.

Baylor Bears vs. Oklahoma Sooners

The Bears want to keep winning and reach a bowl even after Robert Griffin was lost for the season. The Sooners start Big-12 play still hoping for aBSC bowl. Sam Bradford could return for this game in a tuneup before Texas.

Colorado Buffaloes vs. Texas Longhorns

Colorado is looking for a big win to save Dan Hawkins’s job. The Longhorns are tuning up for a showdown in the Red River Shootout.

Other games to keep an eye on would be Maryland taking on Wake Forest and Kansas State versus Texas Tech.

Week six could end the dreams of several teams and solidify the dreams of others. Either way, sit back and enjoy another great weekend in college football.
