Coyotes Make Champs Look Like Chumps

Cameron PaulOct 8, 2009

The Phoenix Coyotes were able to pull off an impressive 3-0 win over the defending Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night.

The Coyotes got another solid team effort. Although Ilya Brzgalov was not forced to make huge saves he was still perfect on the night, making 24 saves for the shutout.

The Coyotes opened the scoring when Ed Jovanovski scored on the power-play. That was only one of the nine chances the Coyotes had on the power-play, as the Penguins spent a great deal of time in the box.

Petr Prucha scored the second goal for the Coyotes, on his back. The nail was put on the coffin when Radim Vrbata shot a puck into an empty net for already his third goal of the season.

After allowing three goals on the penalty kill against the L.A Kings the Coyotes finished the game a perfect 5 for 5 against the Penguins.

The Coyotes don't get any rest as they head right back at it against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
