Christian Getting No Love?

Juan Correspondent IOctober 8, 2009

For some time now, I have realized that there is some hate shown towards Christian on B/R.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe people just find it fun to pick on Christian, much like how some people feel the urge to pick on Joe Burgett. Maybe no one really hates him.

But if they do, I don't understand it. He's not my favorite, but much like how Shane Howard defends Triple H and Justin Thomas defends Jeff Hardy, I will defend Christian.

What's so bad about the guy?

His mic skill isn't bad at all. Does he generate the same kind of excitement as Edge or Shawn Michaels? No. But he can still cut a great promo. He can sound realistic, doesn't make it look forced or fake, and doesn't stutter. His delivery is good enough, better than most others. He is funny too.

His in-ring skills? He can put on a great match most of the time. Sure, he's not always putting on 5-star matches, but who is? He had some impressive matches in his time with ECW.

Two matches stick out in my mind, both involving young superstars: Christian vs. Swagger and Christian vs. Zack Ryder. Maybe they weren't the 'YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS' match. But they were still impressive.

As a champion, he is possibly the best one today. He has held the title for a long time now, making himself a credible champion.

Now moving out of the regular fan's perspective and going into smark mode, I think he's done great for coming to ECW. If I remember correctly, the reports around the time when Christian was coming back was that, he did it because he would get more money, but at the same time, he wanted the main event spot.

ECW isn't exactly 'main event.' It's more like the minor leagues where the young talent grows. Now there may not be much truth in those reports, but Christian has done so well for coming to ECW. He has given his all and put great effort into everything he's done.

If he had the backstage influence that Shawn Michaels, Triple H or The Undertaker had, he probably wouldn't have agreed to a 8-second title match.

Many people have said that they would like to see him on Smackdown. The reason for this? He would get into the main event picture and could be a champion. I though, like him on ECW and what he's doing there for the young ones, and the whole brand itself.

Would I like to see him go to Smackdown? Yes, but not to be world champion, but to see what work he could do with other superstars, such as Edge, Jericho and Punk.

That's what matters to me. As long as someone entertains me, then I don't care much about whether he is champion or not. Just look at Shawn Michaels.

In the end, I would like to say that Christian is an entertaining performer who gives us his best 99% of the time. I don't see any reason why he should be hated. But everyone has their own opinion, and this is mine.
