Victor Cruz Comments on Supporters of President-Elect Donald Trump

New York Giants fullback Nikita Whitlock's home was vandalized with racist graffiti during a robbery Tuesday evening, according to The Record's Andrew Wyrich. Wide receiver Victor Cruz told reporters Thursday he believes the actions were reflective of the United States' political climate.

"I think it's definitely a direct reflection of how this country is being run and how this country is reacting to...the things that are being said by the people at [the] helm of this country and at the helm of our day-to-day lives," he said, per ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.

Cruz added that he believes the graffiti left at Whitlock's home—which included a swastika, the letters "KKK" and the word "Trump"—gives insight into the beliefs of people who support President-elect Donald Trump.

"I think there's a specific mindset that comes with supporting a guy like Donald Trump and supporting what he stands for, and there's a certain type of person that comes with that," he said, per Raanan. "I'm not sure that person is always a positive-minded person, if you know what I mean. You've just got to be careful."

The 30-year-old expanded on that thought, noting while he doesn't think all Trump supporters are bad people, he believes what occurred at Whitlock's home emphasized the sort of hatred the president-elect has engendered.

"For someone to vandalize someone's house and write Trump's name or whatever they wrote on the walls, it's just proving that exact fact that I'm sayingthat people that may follow him aren't necessarily the most positive people in our community," he said.

According to Wyrich, police in Moonachie, New Jersey, confirmed they are investigating the vandalism at Whitlock's home as a hate crime.

"Based on the content and messages on the wall, we will be treating this as a hate crime," Sgt. Richard Behrens told Wyrich. "It appears to be bias."

Trump only garnered 42.5 percent of the vote in Bergen County, where Moonachie is located, according to CNN.com. Hillary Clinton earned 55 percent.
