John Wall Becomes 15th No. 1 Overall Pick to Score 50 in a Game
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall notched 52 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals in Tuesday's 124-116 loss to the Orlando Magic.
Wall's 51 points made him the 15th first overall modern NBA draft pick (since 1966) to score at least 50 points in a game, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN). He was selected first in the 2010 NBA draft.
Allen Iverson owns the most 50-point outputs among the group of first overall picks, totaling 11. Right behind him with 10 each sit Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James.

Despite Wall's effort, the Wizards still lost the game to the Orlando Magic. The star point guard called out his teammates a bit following the game, and justifiably so. Wall was the first Wizards player since Gilbert Arenas in 2007 to top 50 points, per Sportsnet Stats, and just the fourth player ever to lose while posting at least 52 points and eight assists, per ESPN. Michael Jordan, Michael Adams and Russell Westbrook were the three players to previously do the same.
The Wizards managed to keep Orlando's starters in check Tuesday, holding them to just 51 total points. Wall posted the fifth game in the last 15 seasons (106 total 50-point outputs) where a single player outscored the opposition's starting lineup, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN). The Magic bench picked up the slack, exploding for 73 points in the contest.
Wall has done his best to push Washington in the right direction, but the team owns just a 7-13 record through 20 games. However, he will likely need to serve as the centerpiece of a turnaround if the Wizards want to challenge for a playoff spot this season.
