Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Julian Draxler and Jacob Murphy

Rory MarsdenDec 6, 2016

Julian Draxler has reportedly "put Premier League clubs on alert" by hinting that he wants to move away from current club Wolfsburg.

According to theĀ Mirror, Draxler, 23, was booed by Wolfsburg fans as he entered Saturday's 3-2 defeat toĀ Hertha Berlin as a substitute and has now admitted he wants to leave the club. He said:

"

I don’t think I need to tell anybody what [being booed] does to a person—it certainly doesn’t help you.

There’s no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field.

I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.

Wolfsburg blocked Draxler's departure in the summer when he said he wanted to leave the club, but nowĀ BildĀ believes he will leave in January, and long-term suitors Arsenal could well be interested, per Sport Witness:

However, Tottenham Hotspur have also been linkedĀ (via the Daily Star) with the German winger in the past and may be keen to make a move for him in the new year.

Draxler has not had the best season so far in 2016-17, failing to register a Bundesliga goal or assist in 11 appearances.

However, he has long been seen as one of the most exciting attacking prospects in Europe and already has 27 senior caps for the German national team.

In the right system he could thrive, as he is able to operateĀ on either flank or through the middle, can score goals and is an effective creator.

Per BBC Sport, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino indicated after his side's recent exit from the UEFA Champions League that the north London outfit need more quality in their squad if they are to compete both domestically and in Europe.

Draxler would add further quality to their attacking line and be a fine acquisition in January if Spurs can snap him up.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs tracking Norwich City'sĀ Jacob Murphy.

Per ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke,Ā Everton and Southampton are also interested in the winger, and Norwich are braced for attempts to sign him.

Murphy, 21, has netted six times and provided three assists for the Canaries in 17 Championship appearance so far in 2016-17, per WhoScored.com.

He only recently penned a new deal at Carrow Road to 2021. But a side of Spurs' calibre and profile should have more than enough resources to tempt him to move if they decide he would be worth pursuing.
