Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott Lead 2017 Pro Bowl Fan Voting
Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott have spent their rookie seasons ruling the NFL. The latest Pro Bowl returns reflect the Dallas Cowboys stars' ascent.
Elliott leads all players with 681,361 votes from the fans, according to a press release obtained by Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. Sitting right behind the Cowboys running back is his quarterback, as Prescott is currently second with 607,621 votes.
Both Cowboys are the only two players to have hit the 600,000-vote mark. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown and Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr round out the top five.
The Cowboys have seven players leading their respective positions in the NFC voting: tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick, linebacker Sean Lee, kicker Dan Bailey and punter Chris Jones.

Dallas enters Week 14 an NFL-best 11-1, winning its last 11 games while becoming the first team to clinch a playoff spot. Elliott's rise to stardom was expected—albeit perhaps not this quickly, even as a first-round pick. The Ohio State product leads the league with 1,285 yards and 12 touchdowns, setting himself up as an MVP favorite.
“He’s very good at blitz pickup,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters regarding Elliott. “He’s very good at bouncing the ball to the perimeter. He accelerates on contact. If you try to cut him, he hurdles. This guy, he’s as good as I’ve seen in a long time.”
The success of Prescott, a fourth-round pick expected to compete for the backup job in camp, was much more unexpected. He broke out during the preseason and took over the starting reins when Tony Romo suffered a back injury.
Starting the first 12 games, Prescott has thrown for 2,974 yards and 19 touchdowns against two interceptions. He's also added 217 yards and five scores on the ground, with Romo returning to the team in November having accepted his new role as a backup.
While the national spotlight cast on Prescott and Elliott made their choices unsurprising, there were some eye-opening leaders heading into the season's stretch run. The AFC's leading vote-getter at tight end is Martellus Bennett, who has had a fine season but sits behind Travis Kelce and Delanie Walker in every major receiving category.
Bennett has posted just 40 total receiving yards over the last three weeks despite playing most of that time with Rob Gronkowski on the shelf.
Fan voting for the Pro Bowl runs until Dec. 13 and counts for one-third of the total in the selection process. Players and coaches also vote on players they feel are most deserving, each receiving a similar one-third share.
