Video Released of Fans Sleeping in Old Trafford Before Manchester United-Arsenal

Rory MarsdenNov 23, 2016

Two young fans who evaded security to hide undetected overnight at Old Trafford in order to watch Manchester United's 1-1 Premier League draw with Arsenal at the weekend have released a video of their adventure.

In footage likely to embarrass Old Trafford's security staff, they documented their traffic-hit trip up to Manchester from London and their subsequent subterfuge as they slipped away from a stadium tour to hide in some toilets.

After enduring a cold night in the Theatre of Dreams, the duo then enjoyed at least the start of the early kick-off before being rumbled by security and escorted from the premises.

Having been then thrown out of the stadium they were questioned again, with a caption late on explaining that they were eventually let go:

"

We were interrogated and searched 2 more times, we gave all of our details. They completed all of the necessary background checks to ensure we didn’t pose a threat. We were then asked to explain how we managed to do it to ensure it doesn’t happen again! We were already searched when we came into the stadium, and as we didn’t pose a threat they released us!

In the description for the video it reads that the Old Trafford stunt was prompted "after attempting to stay overnight in Arsenal football stadium [the Emirates Stadium] and failing."

There will be concerns at United that they succeeded at Old Trafford.

As noted by BBC Sport, the incident comes just six months on from United's 2015-16 season-ending clash with Bournemouth having to be postponed after the discovery of a "suspect package" in a toilet.

It transpired that the offending object was in fact a fake explosive left behind after a training exercise.
