Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Julian Brandt and Ante Coric

Rob BlanchetteNov 21, 2016

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has said he believes Julian Brandt is "very well" at the club, despite reported interest in the winger from Liverpool.

Melissa Reddy of Goal reported the talented youngster is "one of the possibilities" Jurgen Klopp is considering to add to his Anfield squad after the Reds boss admitted he does “not have too many wingers,” especially as Sadio Mane will miss action due to international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Voller spoke out about the attacker, and said he is content with life at Leverkusen, but the team will "move on" if Brandt opts to leave—as quoted by Stuart Ballard of the Express:

“We know what Julian's contract looks like and we know he is feeling very well here," said Voller. "It would not be the first time a player reaches a stage where he wants to leave. I hope it will not happen with Julian, but we will just move on if it happens."

The 20-year-old has two goals and three assists from his eight Bundesliga starts this term, according to WhoScored.com.

Brandt's performances have won him many fans, and he recently made his full international debut for Germany.

Here is the winger in action:

Klopp has continuously raided his homeland in recent times, capturing Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Loris Karius from the Bundesliga in the summer.

According to German newspaper Express (h/t Ciaran Kelly of the Manchester Evening News), Manchester City are watching the player with great interest.

Leverkusen's official Twitter feed recently praised their rising star after he scored his first goal of the season against Darmstadt:

In other Reds news, Klopp will combat Tottenham Hotspur in a "tug of war" as both Premier League clubs attempt to capture Dinamo Zagreb starlet Ante Coric.

Greg Stobart of Squawka.com reported the two teams will cross swords to sign the prodigy in a £15 million battle.

Stobart added both clubs talked to the player over the summer regarding a potential deal, with Coric pulling out of a move to Manchester City after learning he would be immediately sent out on loan by the Sky Blues. City are unlikely to renew their interest in January, but the Croatian is expected to leave his club in the winter transfer window.

As noted by Stobart, "Coric has already played 102 matches for Dinamo Zagreb, scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists for the side."

Klopp's side have burst out of the traps this term, but it is evident there is still work to do to make the squad more robust and competitive.

Brandt and Coric would be perfect additions to the team, adding youth and dynamism in their roles and positions.

Liverpool will need reinforcements once Mane departs on international duty; making an attacking signing will be a priority for the Anfield giants.
