Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Geoffrey Kondogbia and Andrea Belotti
Jonathan Maarek, agent of Geoffrey Kondogbia, has said the midfielder's aim is to use Inter Milan as a stepping stone to a bigger club and hinted he could be open to a move in January—comments that prompted an angry response from the player himself.
Maarek told Timothe Crepin of France Football (h/t ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell) that while Kondogbia is not pushing for a move away from Inter, it could be a possibility this winter:
"He has a career which has been progressing right from the beginning. His arrival at Inter was just the next step for him to arrive towards one of the biggest clubs in the world. That was and still is the idea. ...
The question [of a transfer] is not being asked. The window opens in January and we will see then what happens.
"
According to Edo Dalmonte of Calciomercato, the Frenchman is a target for Liverpool and Chelsea.
Speaking to the press after Inter's 2-2 draw with bitter rivals AC Milan on Sunday, per Goal (h/t Dalmonte), Kondogbia said: "I am the player, so you have to listen to me, not others. If you have something to ask, then ask me, and listen to what I have to say!"
The 23-year-old has struggled to replicate the form he showed at Monaco and Sevilla since joining the Nerazzurri last year and has made just six appearances for Inter this season.
But under new coach Stefano Pioli, he played the full 90 minutes in the Milan derby on Sunday and put in an excellent showing to boot, per Squawka Football:
The performance epitomised what Kondogbia is capable of when on form—an all-action, ball-winning display in front of the defence combined with the ability to drive the team forward and make use of his excellent passing.
Here's a look at what he could bring to Anfield:
He could be a good fit at Liverpool, adding more energy and pressing in midfield and affording the likes of Jordan Henderson more licence to create opportunities for the front players, but he may have a new lease of life under Pioli that could revitalise him without the need to move clubs.
Meanwhile, Everton have reportedly joined Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti.

That's according to Kristian Walsh of the Liverpool Echo, citing reports in Italy. Ugo Trani of Italian outlet Il Messaggero (h/t Jamie Styles of the Daily Star) had reported the Reds, the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund to be admirers of the forward.
Belotti has been in remarkable form this season, netting 10 goals and providing four assists in 11 Serie A appearances. OptaPaolo noted the impressive manner in which his goals have been scored:
The 22-year-old has also enjoyed an excellent start to his career with Italy, per commentator Adam Summerton:
Gianluca Di Marzio's David Amoyal believes Belotti was a bargain for Torino:
Belotti's form this season, and indeed, throughout 2016—he bagged 11 in the second half of last season—has understandably warranted the attention of a number of suitors, and it's clear he has great potential.
Liverpool will have a great deal of competition if they do move for him—convincing him to come to Anfield could be quite the coup.
