Adam Thielen Injury: Vikings WR Injures Neck vs. Colts
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen suffered a neck injury during the third quarter against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday when Colts cornerback Darius Butler hit him during a catch attempt.
The Vikings ruled him out for the remainder of the game as a result of the hit. Jack Browne of The Score noted that "Butler was flagged for the hit on Thielen, though he didn't appear to hit the receiver high."
Thielen has been durable throughout his career and played all 16 games in each of his first two seasons.
He tallied just 137 receiving yards as a rookie and 144 receiving yards last year, but he is in the middle of a personal-best season with 56 receptions for 758 yards and three touchdowns.
The 6'2" Thielen can serve as a red-zone threat with that height and is capable of taking advantage of the openings created by the double-teams Stefon Diggs draws throughout a given game.
The Vikings still have Diggs as the top receiver, Charles Johnson as a valuable contributor and Cordarrelle Patterson as a speed threat who can beat cornerbacks over the top. Minnesota also has tight end Kyle Rudolph as a reliable option near the goal line. Although Adrian Peterson returned from injury Sunday, the Vikings were still blown out by the Colts 34-6.
