Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Philippe Coutinho and Isco

Tom SunderlandOct 31, 2016

Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho is reportedly ready to shun Real Madrid in favour of a switch to Barcelona following speculation he prefers the Camp Nou titans. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a January swoop for Isco.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport (h/t the Sun's Anthony Chapman), Coutinho attempted to force a move to Barcelona over the summer, but he's adamant to still get his "dream switch" in 2017.

It doesn't help Liverpool's cause to hear French giants Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for the Brazilian, who has dazzled so far this season with four goals and four assists in the Premier League.

Coutinho stands to link up with countrymen like Neymar and Rafinha if he were to join manager Luis Enrique in Catalonia, and Goal's Melissa Reddy recently asked if the Reds star is already England's best:

Napoli whiz Lorenzo Insigne is named by Chapman as an early contender to fill Coutinho's boots in the event he leaves Anfield, and Liverpool would be pushed to fend off Barca's advances if they came calling.

Squawka's Sanjit Atwal recently provided evidence to suggest Coutinho is in the best form of his career, already on track to beat Eden Hazard's form of 2014-15 when he was dubbed the Premier League's best:

The situation will remind those at Anfield all too much of the speculation surrounding former striker Luis Suarez before he eventually completed his £65 million transfer to Barca in the summer of 2014.

Manager Jurgen Klopp shares an affection for Coutinho, his puppeteer supreme, and the German had some kind words to share about his playmaker following Saturday's 4-2 win at Crystal Palace, per Anfield HQ:

Elsewhere, Isco is once again a target for Premier League outfit Tottenham, who are ready to return for the player they chased late in the summer, according to the Mirror (h/t Football Insider's Harvey Byrne).

Squawka recently pointed out it wasn't long ago Isco was named the most promising youngster in Europe, and he may finally feel his talents are being wasted at the Santiago Bernabeu:

There is a question as to where Isco would fit in a Tottenham midfield if he were to make the move to White Hart Lane, given Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli already patrol around the No. 10 area.

Real are facing the prospect of a transfer embargo in 2017, per BBC Sport, meaning manager Zinedine Zidane could be eager to hold onto all the resources he possesses.
