Fantasy Football Week 4 Add/Drops

Garrett OlsenCorrespondent IOctober 6, 2009

Welcome back everyone, hope everyone had a good week and did well in all your fantasy leagues.  There were some big time performances this week from players owned in less than 30% of most leagues.

Lets start with the QB; David Garrard of Jacksonville had over 340 yards passing and 3 TD's as well as 30 rushing yards.  Garrard seems to be getting better week by week and he could be a solid BYE week option or a good back up to have on your bench.  Some weeks I would even consider starting him.

There were some players that had big games at the WR position including Steve Smith of the Giants, Mike Sims-Walker of Jacksonville, Sidney Rice of Minnesota and Pierre Garcon of Indy.  I would consider picking up any of these wide outs in that oder.  I would start Smith and Sims-Walker in any league as a number 2 WR option or a flex option.  Seteve Smith has established himself a the go-to-guy for the Giants as has Sims-Walker for the Jags.  Sidney Rice and Garcon aren't really WR's to start every week, but they could be good bye week replacements.

Rashard Mendenhall of the Steelers had a huge game.  Willi Parker has turf toe and that has been known to hold players out for weeks.  Mendenhall could even start over Parker after his big performance against San Diego and he will definitely get more carries after that performance.  He should be added on all teams.  Donald Brown had another solid game and has established himself as the passing back and he gets the carries for the Colts in the 4th quarter when they have the lead which is going to be most weeks.  Brown could be a nice option if you have a back on bye or even a flex option.  Also consider a look at Michael Bush, Darren McFadden will miss 2-4 weeks with a torn meniscus (most likely 4 weeks, I had a torn meniscus in hockey and was out 4 weeks).

Heath Miller and Vernon Davis continue to impress and they both should be added if you don't already have Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates or Kellen Winslow.

The Broncos D and 49er's D continues to impress.  The Broncos play the Patriots this week which is a bad match up, but if Denver can hold New England under 14 points like they have every other opponent, then they will be regarded as having one of the top 3 D's in the league.  Elvis Dumerville continues to sack the QB and Denver has had 10 TO's this year.

Fill free to drop the Titans D, Issac Bruce, and Mike Bell.

This will also be an open question blog, so fill free to drop in any questions about match-ups, add/drops, trade scenarios or injury reports.  Good luck in week 5!
