Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Marco Verratti and Mario Pasalic

Tom SunderlandOct 31, 2016

Chelsea may be forced to move quickly if they're to land Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti following reports Inter Milan are readying a huge bid. Meanwhile, Mario Pasalic could join AC Milan on permanent terms this winter.

The Blues have been just one of the European giants linked with a move for Italy's Verratti, but Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t TalkSport) reported Inter will offer £58.5 million for his services.

The news comes just one week after Verratti was taken off in the second half of PSG's recent 0-0 draw against Marseille, where he fuelled speculation of a rift with manager Unai Emery due to his aggressive reaction in the dugout.

However, the 23-year-old has since addresses rumours of a falling out with his boss as said there is nothing for those at Parc des Princes to fear, per Di Marzio translator David Amoyal:

Chelsea may be one of the few clubs that could tempt the Parisian giants into selling their star, although Inter have a trump card in that they're able to offer the anchor a move back to his native Serie A.

Despite Verratti's statement to the contrary, his agent, Donato Di Campli, told Italian network Rai Sports (h/t Football Italia) PSG could lose out on his client if the French media continued to treat him in a way he clearly saw as unfit:

"

I remain stunned when I read certain criticism.

The French Press ought to be honoured and thank their lucky stars if Marco plays in Paris, otherwise they’d be reporting on friendly games between locals.

If they continue like this, he really will leave Paris. It’s not just the media, but others who criticise him and don’t understand football.

I speak to other clubs and Coaches in other teams who think very differently.

"

Although Inter's bid is expected to come in January, it seems all but impossible PSG would allow such a valued star to leave their ranks midway through the season unless he pushed for the exit himself.

Chinese consortium Suning Holdings Group have taken over Inter Milan, giving them the money to spend. However, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson has also made his call on recent speculation:

Elsewhere, Croatian starlet Pasalic—currently enjoying a season-long loan at Milan from Chelsea—could complete a permanent move to the San Siro after his agent, Vincenzo Cavaliere, talked up a future switch.

Pasalic played the final 28 minutes of the Rossoneri's 1-0 win over Pescara on Sunday, and Cavaliere spoke highly of the youngster following that victory before detailing the chances of a permanent transfer, per MilanNews (h/t Football Italia):

"

He’s also ready to play 90 minutes, but Milan are playing well and he’s aware that he’ll have to fight for his place.

Yesterday, something became certain for the Coach: he can count on Mario, who already has a lot of international experience.

The idea of the Coach signing him from Chelsea for [Milan’s] project of a young team makes sense.

Can Milan can buy him in January? It’s a situation that could materialise, but the English club will decide. It’s a bit too early to talk about this.

"

It would require a lot of pushing on Milan's behalf to force through a winter deal, particularly if Pasalic begins to feature more regularly and make his talents even more known to those at his parent club.

Chelsea sent the 21-year-old midfielder to the Serie A side for first-team minutes. But there's a chance the plan could work too well should AC Milan look to snap up his loyalties for the long term come January.
