Manchester City Transfer News: Latest on Yaya Toure, New Moise Kean Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenOct 30, 2016

The agent of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has once again launched an attack on manager Pep Guardiola, while the Citizens are reportedly still working on a bid for Juventus starlet Moise Kean.

As reported by Jonathan Smith for ESPN FC, Guardiola has made it clear he won't consider playing Toure until his agent Dimitri Seluk apologises for comments he made about the City manager after he left the veteran out of the UEFA Champions League squad.

Such an apology seems unlikely, as Seluk has doubled-down on his criticism, per Simon Mullock of the Daily Mirror:

When Yaya was left out of the Champions League squad, I called Pep. I wanted to ask him his reasons, but he didn't call me back.

I also tried to call Txiki (Begiristain)but he didn't call me back either. So I don't think the club can criticise me for doing an interview in the newspaper when they wouldn't even talk to me.

Pep talks about respect. But to get respect you have to show it.

[…] This is his revenge. And it is personal, not professional.

I asked City in the summer if they wanted Yaya to leave and was told that he was part of the plan.

It is now clear that wasn't the truth. I think the plan was to humiliate Yaya—and all the other players who have made history for Manchester City in the last six years.

[…] Pep smiles at you. He makes you believe he is your best friendand then he betrays you.

"

Guardiola and Toure previously worked together at Barcelona, and Guardiola ended up selling the Ivory Coast international to City, as he favoured Sergio Busquets in a central midfield role.

Many fans and pundits expected he would do the same upon arrival at the Etihad Stadium, with Toure now in the twilight of his career. Transfer speculation has been almost constant, and Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express recently reported Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Guardiola has never been afraid to part with fan favourites or club legends when taking over a new team―Joe Hart is currently on loan at Torino, for instance, despite establishing himself as one of the Premier League's best goalkeepers the last few years with City.

With Toure's contract running out at the end of the season, the 33-year-old is a virtual lock to leave the Citizens, and a January move could be a possibility if the current situation persists. It makes little sense for Guardiola to keep Toure around―he can only serve as a distraction, particularly if his agent keeps talking to the press.

Meanwhile, the Sun's Alan Nixon reports City are “making huge strides” in their bid to sign Juventus starlet Kean and Valencia youngster Kanjin Lee, two highly rated youngsters.

The latter has been making waves in Valencia's academy, but it's the former who is the bigger talent of the two. Kean has been scoring goals in the Juventus academy at an absurd rate, despite consistently going up against players older than him.

With Paulo Dybala out due to injury, manager Massimiliano Allegri has promoted the youngster to the senior squad, and while he's yet to feature for the Bianconeri, the 16-year-old is still on pace to become the first player born in the year 2000 to play in Serie A.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Per Nixon, Arsenal have also been linked with Kean, who would fit City's current youth movement like a glove and is yet to sign a long-term deal with the Bianconeri.

His agent and the Old Lady have been working hard on a deal, however, and he's expected to commit his future to Juventus in the near future, per Calciomercato's Lorenzo Bettoni.
