Terrelle Pryor Injury: Browns WR Injures Finger vs. Bills
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor Sr. suffered a torn ligament in his finger in against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15 on Dec. 18 and will reportedly need surgery after the season.
Despite the injury, the Browns announced Pryor is active for Week 16 against the San Diego Chargers on Saturday.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network first reported word of the injury Dec. 19, noting Pryor's play was affected in the second half. Pryor finished with four receptions and 19 yards. Rapoport later reported Pryor was diagnosed with a torn ligament but noted the receiver will "try to grit and play through it" before going under the knife in the offseason.
In his fifth NFL season, Pryor is in the midst of a career renaissance. Making the full-time switch to receiver for the first time—he played three games at the position last season—Pryor has become the Browns' most consistent offensive player. He's compiled a team-high 67 receptions for 877 yards while working as an offensive jack-of-all-trades.
In addition to time at receiver, Pryor has played running back and quarterback when the need has arisen. He even played despite a nagging hamstring injury earlier this season.
Pryor told reporters about his experience playing through the injury:
"I get into the competing with the guys so I really wanted to get out there and compete and try and help the guys, but what was best for the future weeks coming ahead was that I didn't play that much and run a lot so I thank coach Jackson for thinking of me individually like that, but I just tried to get out there and help as much as I could.
"
After he dealt with leg injuries throughout 2015, it'll be interesting to see how the Browns deal with Pryor's latest setback. Cleveland has just two games remaining to avoid going 0-16, and it will need its top offensive weapon in the fold if it hopes to win a game this season.
