Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Rodrigo Bentancur, More

Gianni VerschuerenOct 20, 2016

Juventus have already made a deal to sign Manchester United transfer target Rodrigo Bentancur, according to Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici. Meanwhile, Swedish prospect Alexander Isak is reportedly being eyed by the Red Devils, Bianconeri, Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Speaking to TyC Sports (h/t The Independent's Jack Austin), Angelici confirmed United, Real and AC Milan all tried to sign Bentancur, but Juventus used the clause they obtained in the sale of Carlos Tevez to move ahead of all those clubs:

"

It is already signed. When I was in Switzerland recently Juventus informed me that that they were going to activate the option so I will travel to Turin soon in order to complete the deal.

I think it's very good business for Boca. Juventus will pay £6.7 million for 50 per cent of his rights.

He must have something because there were a lot of clubs interested.

Real Madrid made a proposal, Manchester [United] also came and Milan made a £12.5m formal offer to sign him.

Juventus secured options on several young Boca stars when they sold Tevez to the Argentinian club in 2015. Guido Vadala moved to Turin on loan with an option, while Bentancur, Adrian Andres Cubas and others stayed in the South American country with options until 2017, per Football Italia.

Bentancur is arguably the most talented of the bunch. The 19-year-old Uruguayan made his senior debut at the age of 17 and has done nothing but impress as a holding midfielder since then.

He's a smooth operator with tremendous passing range and enough physicality to hold his own in the midfield battle. Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Bentancur was frequently compared with Paul Pogba earlier in his career, but it has since become clear he's better suited to playing in a less advanced role. He doesn't have the raw scoring potential the Frenchman does, but his quick feet, technique and ability to get out of tight spots in midfield are reminiscent of the former Juventus man.

Steve Graff of Gianluca Di Marzio's website is a fan:

"

Juventus fans are right to be giddy about potential new signing Rodrigo Bentancur. Still only 19 and standing at 1.85 m (6’1” in English/US standard units), he is a central midfielder for Boca Juniors who is a good two-footed ball-winner and passer, who can perform both defensive recoveries and orchestrate the attack on the left and right hand side. He also has elite level dribbling ability in close spaces which allows him to open up space close to goal for others inside the penalty area. Bentancur possesses a good shot from distance as well.

"

Losing out on the talented youngster obviously hurts the Red Devils, but the fact he'll be moving to Juventus because of Tevez will make this one sting just a little more. The Argentinian haunted his former club on several occasions after he left for rivals Manchester City, and it seems United just can't escape El Apache.

Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Calciomercato) reported rising star Isak is wanted by some of Europe's biggest clubs, including United, Juventus, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The AIK Solna player is just 17 years old but already drawing rave reviews for his performances in Sweden. Comparisons to compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic were inevitable, but the teenager is a fantastic attacking prospect in his own right.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Isak has all of the physical tools you look for in a striker, and despite his young age, he's already showing an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time. He moves well in space and does a solid job of holding up the ball in the attacking third.

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe is a big fan:

Per Tighe, Ibrahimovic has already talked up his compatriot, and one has to assume the chance to play with the Swedish legend would make United a dream destination for Isak.

Just about every top club will be keeping an eye on the teenager, however, and if he does become available, we could see a mad scramble to secure his signature.
