Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Divock Origi and Alphonso Davies
Liverpool's Divock Origi has moved to dismiss reports that he could be set to join Juventus in January.
He told Belgian outlet HLN (h/t Metro's Tom Olver):
"I’ve not heard it. It’s a rumour, as there are many. No, I concentrate fully on Liverpool and the Belgium national team.
I’ve started both matches of the League Cup, and I scored in both games, Liverpool have won almost every game.
"
Per HLN's Kristof Terreur, he added:
Calciomercato.com (h/t Jamie Styles of the Daily Star) reported the Serie A champions have identified Origi as a player who could replace Mario Mandzukic, with Olver adding that they could be set to bid for him this winter.
The Belgian has made five appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League this term, but each has been a cameo—he's only been on the pitch for 98 minutes in total.
Daniel Sturridge seems to be ahead of him in the pecking order, but he hasn't fared a great deal better—he's played 288 minutes across six league games but hasn't finished one yet.
Both are playing second fiddle to Roberto Firmino at the moment because of his excellent form and the team's all-round attacking play, which has been equally impressive:
However, the Brazilian isn't a natural striker—the Reds still need out-and-out centre-forward options, which Origi and Sturridge provide.
Of the two, Sturridge is the more proven goalscorer, but Origi's dynamic play and willingness to press arguably makes him more suited to playing under Reds manager Jurgen Klopp in the long term.
As such, it looks as though he still has a future at the club and will get more opportunities as the season wears on—the same might not be said with the Bianconeri, where he'd have to compete with Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala for game time.

Meanwhile, the Reds have been scouting Vancouver Whitecaps starlet Alphonso Davies, according to Canadian outlet the Province (h/t Joe Rimmer of the Liverpool Echo).
The 15-year-old has already enjoyed eight Major League Soccer appearances for the Whitecaps and recently made his first start in the competition, per ESPN Stats & Info:
On Sunday, the winger used his pace and strength to win his side a penalty, per MLS:
It's still extremely early days in the youngster's career, but Davies is already catching the eye and gaining valuable first-team experience.
There's a long way to go before he'd be ready to play for a club like Liverpool, but he's already showing his progress is worth monitoring.
