Mike Morgan Injury: Updates on Seahawks LB's Recovery from Hernia Surgery

Morgan Has Surgery, to IR

"Just finished a successful surgery; thanks for all the prayers and well wishes," Morgan wrote on Instagram. "Excited to start the rehab process and get back stronger than ever and play with my brothers again! Thankful for Dr. Meyers and his staff for taking great care of me. Don't let the smilie fool you; I'm in a lot of pain."

The Seahawks placed Morgan on injured reserve Monday, per the team's website. If he recovers in time, he could be eligible for the designated player distinction. NFL rules on IR players require they miss at least eight weeks before potentially rejoining the team.

Morgan played limited snaps in Sunday's win over the New York Jets after being limited in practice. The special teamer and backup linebacker recorded four tackles through the first four games of the season. This is the first major injury of his career, having missed just two games over the last four campaigns.

The Seahawks signed Jordan Tripp from their practice squad to take Morgan's spot on the roster. The former fifth-round pick came to a deal with Seattle after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of final roster cuts.

Tripp spent 2015 with Jacksonville after playing the 2014 season with the Miami Dolphins.
