Former WWE Star Alberto Del Rio Posts Graphic Photos After Being Stabbed
After failing to appear at Sunday's AAA Heroes Inmortales X in Monterrey, Mexico, former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio revealed Monday that he was unable to attend because he was the victim of a stabbing.
As seen in this statement released by Del Rio (currently known as Alberto El Patron) on Instagram, the former WWE champion was allegedly attacked after eating dinner prior to his scheduled flight:
The nephew of renowned luchador Mil Mascaras also posted the following graphic photos of wounds suffered during the incident (Warning: Photos are graphic and may be NSFW):
Before Del Rio's explanation, AAA issued a statement Sunday in which it claimed that the 39-year-old had "failed the Mexican public," according to Nick Paglino of WrestleZone.com.
Del Rio was released by WWE last month while serving a 30-day suspension for violating the company's talent wellness policy.
He re-signed with WWE in October 2015, which ended an absence of more than one year after his initial release in August 2014.
The former Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank winner is currently a free agent booked for multiple independent shows, and it is unclear what his status is with AAA after missing Sunday's event.
