Creature Vs. Creature Writers Pool: Results After the Price Chopper 400

Kelly CrandallSenior Writer IOctober 5, 2009

It was a long day at the Kansas Speedway, where Tony Stewart came out on top with his first top-five finish since his win at Watkins Glen in August. Stewart beat Jeff Gordon, a pick by two of our Creatures, to take a chunk off the point deficit he entered the weekend with.

Another Creature pick of Greg Biffle finished third and led the most laps today. That puts Ben Bomberger back atop our points standings a week after being overtaken by Rob Tiongson.

All but two of our Creature’s picks finished in the top ten today, meaning there was not much movement in the point standings, just a few spots flip-flopping. But it did make things much clearer about who is staying in the hunt for the championship with seven races remaining.

Here’s a look at the point standings as our Creatures aren’t in Kansas anymore.

Ben Bomberger (5,524) Greg Biffle finished third (3)

Rob Tiongson (-13) Mark Martin finished seventh (2)

Mary Jo Buchanan (-40) Jeff Gordon finished second (0)

James Broomhead (-60) Jeff Gordon finished second (3)

Kara Martin (-74) Jimmie Johnson finished ninth (3)

Kelly Crandall (-83) Juan Pablo Montoya finished fourth (2)

Jen Preston (-120) Clint Bowyer finished 21st (1)

David Phillips (-144) Carl Edwards finished 10th (2)

Mason Dunn (-146) Jimmie Johnson finished ninth (0)

SM Napier (-280) Clint Bowyer finished 21st (2)

Danielle Henderson (-339) NO PICK SENT (2)

Adam Heasley (-494) NO PICK SENT (3)
