Zinedine Zidane 'Pissed Off' After Real Madrid's Draw with Borussia Dortmund
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane didn't hide his disappointment after Tuesday's 2-2 draw in the UEFA Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, telling reporters he was “pissed off” after the final whistle.
Andre Schurrle scored a late goal to earn the hosts a point and hand Real their third consecutive draw across all competitions. Per Sport's Rik Sharma, that did not sit well with Zidane:
"I’m pissed off.
Because we played a great game in attack and defence. We played how we wanted to.
It’s the third game [drawn] in a row and I’m pissed off for the players because they don’t deserve this. It’s not a bad result. We had chances, and 2-1 up with three minutes to go…. pissed off.
Against Las Palmas we lacked concentration. Here we did everything we needed to do. We suffered a lot in the first half but that’s normal at this stadium. We will continue.
"
Los Blancos twice took the lead on Tuesday, first through star forward Cristiano Ronaldo and again via Raphael Varane. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tied things up just before half-time, and Schurrle's late equaliser made sure BVB kept the lead in Group F thanks to a superior goal difference.
While Real twice put themselves in a position to win the match, they were far from their best, with Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe noting the hosts were by far the superior team on Tuesday:
In La Liga, back-to-back draws against Villarreal and Las Palmas ended a lengthy winning streak, and with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both returning to top form, Los Blancos' lead has been virtually wiped out.

It's too early to start panicking―Real still aren't fully healthy and in form after a long summer filled with international tournaments―but the team's inability to finish the job and their tendency to concede late goals is worrying.
There are plenty of optimistic signs, however. For one thing, Zidane's tenure has been such a success so far that it's the first time the team has dropped points three matches in a row, per Gracenote Live:
Ronaldo is also starting to find his form after a lengthy absence due to the injury he picked up during the Euro 2016 final, and, combined with Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio, the Portuguese will give the team a far better chance of winning matches.
Keylor Navas returned to the pitch against BVB and still has some cobwebs to shake off, and once the Costa Rican gets back to his best as well, there's every reason to believe Los Blancos will return to their dominant ways.
