Adrian Peterson Contract: Latest News, Rumors on RB's Future with Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings want to restructure Adrian Peterson's $18 million contract for 2017 and reportedly won't retain him if the running back refuses to negotiate a reworked deal, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
Peterson is due a $6 million roster bonus in March.
Peterson, 31, is out until at least November after the Vikings placed him on injured reserve following meniscus surgery. It is the second season in the past three years where Peterson has missed significant time to injury, although La Canfora reported the Vikings would have attempted to restructure his deal even if he had a productive 2016 campaign.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Peterson was struggling to start 2016, rushing for just 50 yards on 31 carries.
According to La Canfora, "The Vikings are already transitioning into more of a throwing team under Norv Turner." He continued: "Behind a porous line, throwing more screen passes and calling more outside runs for more nimble back Jerick McKinnon may actually help the struggling run game, some in the organization believe."
Still, Peterson has rushed for 1,000 or more yards every season except 2011 (12 games) and 2014 (one). McKinnon and Matt Asiata figure to split carries with Peterson out.
