Manchester City Won't Face FIFA Punishment After Benjamin Garre Move Complaint
FIFA announced on Friday they will not punish Manchester City over the Benjamin Garre transfer after Velez Sarsfield reported the club to football's top organisation earlier this week.
Bryan Swanson of Sky Sports shared the news:
As reported byĀ theĀ Telegraph'sĀ Ben Rumsby, Velez accused the Citizens of approaching and trying to sign the player before he turned 16 years old, which would be in violation of regulations.
Raul Gamez, the Velez president, directed some hard words in the direction of City:
"Never have I experienced such an immoral act.
They offered Āmoney to take a 15-year-old child who is in the middle of his stage of development. We donāt know what they Āoffered the father and the child in order to convince them.
In Velez, we defend values and we act in good faith. We are not interested in collecting ā¬50,000 or ā¬1,000,000 if said action is prohibited and may affect the player.
"
The signing of minors has become a hot topic in football in recent years, with La Liga giants Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all handed transfer bans for violations of the current regulations, perĀ BBC Sport.Ā
Per Rumsby, Velez have already confirmed they will take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if FIFA doesn't act.
