15-Year-Old Eric Pardinho Pitches for Brazil in World Baseball Classic Qualifier
Most 15-year-old kids are settling back into high school this September. Eric Pardinho pitched for Team Brazil in a World Baseball Classic qualifying game.
During Brazil's 10-0 victory over Pakistan on Thursday, the teenager allowed a hit and walk in the sixth inning before escaping the jam unscathed. He hit 94 mph on the radar gun in Brooklyn, New York.
After the game, per Gemma Kaneko and David Adler of MLB.com, he discussed his brief outing in the worldwide showcase.
"It was a great experience for me," Pardinho said. "I'm very glad to have this opportunity to have pitched for my country. Although it was just one inning, it was a great experience, and I'm very grateful for that."
Brazil, managed by Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, can punch a ticket to next year's WBC with another win in the four-team qualifying tournament. If it does, viewers should keep an eye on Pardinho.
