Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Rumours on James Rodriguez and Isco

Christopher SimpsonSep 21, 2016

Juventus will reportedly join Manchester United in the race to sign Real Madrid's James Rodriguez and Isco.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t Calciomercato), the former "looks destined" to leave the Santiago Bernabeu next summer, and "Biaconeri CEO Beppe Marotta is monitoring the current situation."

Citing British reports, Calciomercato added that Juventus are also set to rival United's interest in Isco.

Rodriguez struggled to earn regular game time last season, and with his presence in the team often leaving Real unbalanced in midfield, it looked as though he may have been on borrowed time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he has started this season strongly with a goal and three assists in six appearances, his strike against Espanyol on Sunday being on his first start in 133 days.

He continued his resurgence on Wednesday, per WhoScored.com:

The 25-year-old insisted he has not considered a move away, as Bleacher Report UK tweeted (h/t Press Association, via Sky Sports):

Per Marca's Jose Luis Calderon (adapted by Marc Mayo), Rodriguez's form is also earning praise from his fellow squad members, with one unnamed team-mate ruing the playmaker's lack of game time last year: "It's a shame, because he's essential and gives us a lot."

Team-mate Gareth Bale also hailed his strike against Espanyol:

The midfielder may not have always been on form during his time with Real, but he's still been able to make an impressive number of incisive contributions, per Squawka Football:

It seems as though Rodriguez has salvaged his career in the Spanish capital, but Isco's future firmly remains up in the air.

He has played just 44 minutes across his two LaLiga appearances this season, and it would not be a surprise if he were to move on in search of regular game time.

The Spaniard could make an excellent capture for either United or Juve, and both would undoubtedly hold great appeal—there could be a real tussle for his signature.
