Pep Guardiola Swears at Reporter Who Asks If Manchester City Can Win 4 Trophies
Manchester City may be flying high at the summit of the Premier League, but manager Pep Guardiola isn't getting excited about his side's title prospects after swearing in a journalist's direction at a recent press conference.
Following the Citizens' 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth on Saturday, the tactician muttered "what the f--k?" before pausing and giving an exasperated answer when asked if City can win four trophies this season, per Goal's Sam Lee (This video contains language NSFW):
Lee also provided a transcription of the Spaniard's answer:
"So Manchester City arrived in their lives in the Champions League semi-final once, so when the people believe I am going to win the Champions League because I am a really good coach... I don’t think so, guys.
My happiness does not depend on if I am going to win all the titles or not, so my target is now to be happy today, drink a little bit of wine, and tomorrow prepare the game and of course I am going to try to win our League Cup game [against Swansea City], there is no doubt about that.
After we are going to see, so my question is today is: are the people who came to this game really enjoying it? Yes? Wow, that is enough. To win titles or not we will see.
"
Guardiola has made an emphatic start to life as City manager and is the only boss yet to drop a point in the Premier League as things stand, having now won five from five in the English top flight.
The Times' Oliver Kay was also quick to point out Jose Mourinho's time at the Manchester United helm has gone quite the opposite in terms of success after the Red Devils lost 3-1 at Watford on Sunday:
Having brought the reputation of a world-class manager to the Premier League, it's inevitable that only the highest expectations should follow Guardiola as he embarks upon a new quest in England's top tier.
It's only been a month since his new journey began, but Guardiola already appears quite fed up with the line of questioning that's taking root as a result of his early success.
