REVENGE IS SWEET- BRUINS BEAT CANES 7-2

 

Boston MA- It was a playoff like atmosphere at the TD Garden with rematch of the 2009 eastern conference semi- final as the Carolina Hurricanes payed a visit to the Bruins for the second game of the season. 3:35 into the first period Carolina would loose Joe Corvo as he was sent to the penalty box for hooking. Now the Bruins they would draw first blood on the power play as new bruin defense man Derek Morris sends a shot from the point at Cam Ward Marc Savard would slip the rebound in to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. To the middle of the first and Carolina wouldn't get much luck as they would be charged with too many men on the ice. So the Bruins with the man advantage would once again get the puck past Cam Ward. It was Morris who would pass over to Chara who would find an open Michael Ryder getting his firs of the season on the power play at 12:38. Carolina couldn't seem to regroup and 26 seconds later Blake

Wheeler would have a shot from Lucic deflect off the toe of his skate up under the crossbar but the Canes thinking the puck was kicked in would get a review. Now with no distinct kicking motion the goal would stand giving Wheeler his first of the season and the Bruins a 3-0 lead into the locker room after one. Boston also would out shoot the Canes 21-7.

the Bruins knowing that the Canes were getting a firm message from there coach knew they had to come out and play the same way in the second. Boston would continue to show dominance with Sturm getting his first goal of the season at 10:37 of the second. Sturm returning to the Bruins roster after missing last season due to injury. The black and gold were not done yet. Boston scoring on 2 of 4 power plays would make it 3 for 5 as Dennis Widemen rips a bullet from just inside the blue line. Assists from Bergeron and Recchi at 12:44. Now the Canes they would remind the city of Boston of the ending to there season last year as the villain Scott Walker deflects a shot right passed Tim Thomas and its now 5-1. Carolina with some momentum after the goal wouldn't be smiling long as Steve Begian steals the puck in the offensive zone finding Shawn Thornton in front for the tip extending the sloter to 6-1.Now Carolina would loose Staal after getting a deflection to the side of the head. It was only a matter of time before the Canes tempers would boil over. Carolina's Jay Harrison would drop the gloves with MillanLucic and he would pay for as Lucic landing punch after punch opening up Harrison's forehead sending him to the locker room for repairs. After the refs settled things down to a simmer it would get ugly as Andrew Alberts landed a vicious cross check on Marco Sturm. Savard would come over and unload on Alberts and the other players on the ice would follow creating a scrum that would end the second period giving Boston a total of 18 penalty minutes and Carolina with 16 and a power play to begin the third. In the third Period Staal would return to the ice with 25 stitches repairing the puck damage. Staal would make a statement by scoring a goal making it 6-2 at 2:41. later in the third Boston would stick the final nail in Carolina's coffin as Matt Hunwick scores with assists from Sturm and Savard at 8:29. Boston would finish the game with Shawn Thornton dropping the gloves with former Bruin Andrew Alberts and Alberts would need a medic after this one as Thornton would land a big right hand cutting Alberts sending him to the ice. The Bruins would repair the wounds of last season by beating the canes on the scoreboard and in the fights winning 7-2.
