CM Punk: Vince McMahon Is 'Currently Bankrolling a Lawsuit Against Me'
If anyone thought things between WWE and professional wrestler-turned-MMA fighter CM Punk were straightened out, think again.
The longest-reigning champion of the modern era sat down with Inside MMA to discuss his upcoming fight with Mickey Gall (2-0) at UFC 203 and was asked if he has received any support from WWE, in particular CEO Vince McMahon. The answer?
"No, he's currently bankrolling a lawsuit against me, so I don't think he's going to be reaching out," he said.
He then jokingly did an impression of McMahon: "Hey, pal, how are you doing? I'm suing ya, LOL."
It's unclear if Punk (real name Phil Brooks) is referencing the ongoing legal battle between him, fellow former WWE wrestler Colt Cabana and WWE doctor Chris Amann or something else entirely. Amann filed a defamation lawsuit against the two after Punk's controversial appearance on theย Art of Wrestlingย podcast where he discussed his sudden departure from WWE.ย
The full featureย with Ron Kruck airs on AXS TV's Inside MMAย this Friday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT.
