Pens Ruin Tavares Debut, Win 4-3 In Shootout

Sidney Crosby becomes the sixth fastest player in NHL history to get 400 Points. John Tavares Get first career point and Goal

Through the first two periods of the hockey game the Penguins looked overmatched and were being out played. Marc-Andre Fleury, who made 25 saves, kept the Pens in the game for a comeback in the third period.

The Penguins outshot the Islanders 22-6 in the third period and overtime to tie the game then win it in overtime.

Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby sealed the victory with goals in the shootout.

1st period:

8:50 Sidney Crosby receives a pass from Ruslan Fedotenko and goes one on one with Dwayne Roloson beating him with a quick wrist shot to get the Penguins on the board first

12:40 Mark Streit takes a puck from M. Moulson and John Tavares (first NHL point) and slaps it behind Marc-Andre Fleury to tie the contest at 1 apiece. The islanders were on a 5 on 3 after a BIG HIT by Brendan Witt caused the Penguins to retaliate and lose Jay McKee for the night on a game misconduct penalty.

2nd Period

7:09 On another power play John Tavares got his first career goal on a big hand shot that beat Fleury top Shelf. Moments later while shorthanded Tavares was robbed on a 1 on 0 by Marc Andre Fleury amazing glove save.

3rd Period

7:19 off a faceoff win by Sidney Crosby, Mark Eaton's wrist shot through traffic beat Roloson

7:36 17 seconds after the Eaton goal, Trent Hunter takes a pass from J. Bailey in the slot and slaps it behind Fleury

16:11 A nice pass across ice to Gonchar from Malkin leads to a Ruslan Fendotenko goal in the crease with Roloson scrambling to find the puck
