South Africa vs. Argentina: Live Stream, Preview for Rugby Championship 2016

James DudkoAug 18, 2016

Two squads featuring a number of changes will get the 2016 Rugby Championship underway, when South Africa host Argentina at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday.

Neither side is a favourite for this year's tournament, one set to be dominated by mighty New Zealand. Yet, it would still be foolish to dismiss South African and Argentinian hopes.

Here are the schedule and streaming details:

Both nations freshened things up on the eve of the Championship, albeit making changes for different reasons. Springbok coach Allister Coetzee is tweaking things after a gruelling series win over Ireland, according to Sky Sports.

Coetzee is under pressure to encourage more expansive Rugby.

Debutant Julian Redelinghuys headlines the five new faces in the South African lineup, along with versatile full-back Johan Goosen, per Sky Sports. However, it isn't the new faces who are set to define the Springboks during the tournament.

Instead, it will be the style of play Coetzee favours. Specifically, how expansive and attack-minded he allows his players to be.

PlanetRugby is convinced the Springboks boast the "forward pack to challenge" and provide "an extra edge to their attacking play." To that end, Alex Shaw of Rugby World has identified fly-half Elton Jantjies as a key figure.

Similarly, Argentina have rung the changes, but only in response to a recent 27-0 defeat to France. Rugby Week calls coach Daniel Hourcade's decision to drop playmaker Nicolas Sanchez for Juan Martin Hernandez the "most notable" change.

It's a bold move considering Sanchez's influence as a crafty fly-half. Yet, even without their No. 10, Argentina's game will thrive or fail based on their strength in the scrum.

If the Springboks can get the ball wide and use pace in space—a style many are clamouring for—they can enjoy a successful start to the tournament.
