Trufant Has Been Model of Health During Career
This season, Trufant missed a game for the first time in his four years in the league. He appeared in 16 games in each of his first three campaigns and in the first eight of this season.
During that span in 2016, he's recorded 27 tackles and one interception.
However, he experienced some injury issues before taking the field for competitive play, injuring his hip during training camp, though he missed only a few days of practice.
Since being taken 22nd overall in 2013, the former Washington Huskies standout has developed into the Falcons' best corner, recording six interceptions and 44 pass deflections over his first three seasons in the NFL.
His contributions to the Falcons defense saw him named as the team's most underrated player by ESPN.com's Vincent Verhei.
With the 26-year-old sidelined, the Falcons will look for Robert Alford to stabilize the secondary, as he'll be tasked with guarding the opponent's best receiver. In his first three years, he recorded one more interception than Trufant did.
