Tyler Eifert Says He Will Never Play in Pro Bowl Again
The NFL Pro Bowl has long been among the most maligned exhibitions in sports, and Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert confirmed that Friday by insisting that he will never again play in pro football's version of an All-Star game.
Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com was the first to report Eifert's pledge, and he also relayed the following comment from the former Notre Dame standout regarding the notion of participating in the Pro Bowl: "It's just not worth it."
Eifert was named to his first Pro Bowl last season, as he set career highs with 52 receptions for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games.

The 2013 first-round pick made one reception for 11 yards in the game, which was later roundly criticized due to a lack of contact and effort, which caused the contest to hardly resemble a game of football.
Although Eifert is on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason ankle surgery, he is just 25 years of age and figures to be named to several more Pro Bowls in his career if he maintains the level of play he displayed in 2015.
Despite that, he has no interest in taking part in a game that has made a mockery of the sport to some degree in recent years.
Following the 2016 Pro Bowl, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear he was unhappy with the showing and intended to make sweeping changes to the game moving forward if possible.
If the Pro Bowl continues in its current state, however, it won't be at all surprising to see other players follow in Eifert's footsteps since the game is no longer fulfilling to those who take part in it aside from a free trip to a warm locale.
