The New York Jets may have their next Joe Namath. It has been a long time since this football franchise has had a quaterback to get excited about. The instant I saw his footwork and ability to throw under pressure I instantly envied the New York Jet fans. They have something now to get excited about and make parts of the big apple forget about Eli Manning. They have a quarterback who has a natural instinct for the game. His scramble abilities and arm strenghth remind me of a young Brett Favre.

The jets and their fans have needed a messiah like Sanchez to look forward too. He will do so much to add diversity and gain new fans for the league. The jets could use a boost to help get exposure for their often overlooked and ignored franchise. I have been following football for many years and can't recall much about this team in the past twenty years. It seems hard to believe how this football team in America's largest city is so visibally silent all these years in the NFL. They should of been more likely to have had the mantle of America's team than the Dallas Cowboys just on the shear market value of where the franchise is located. It seems like something went terribly wrong for the franchise after the incredible Joe Namath victory in SuperBowl III. The New York Jet franchise just went in a coma with hardly any playoff appearences through all these years.

Maybe in the next few years mark Sanchez can make up for some of the awful years the team has seen in it's history. The new York jets fortune may change and they can enter a new winning and constant annual playoff run much like the team the defeated in Super Bowl III. The baltimore/Indianapolis Colts experienced a similar downward franchise trend following that their Superbowl. It took many years and the emergence of a Peyton manning to turn that franchises sucess around. Will Mark Sanches have a similar effect for the Jets. You can bet a corporate jet on it.
